
Just as you change the oil in your car every 3000 miles, and get a tune up every 50,000 miles, periodic maintenance is necessary for your building automation system to make sure it's running in tip-top condition. Over time, sensors and actuators drift out of calibration, corrode, or become clogged with dust and debris; a process called entropy. A good system will compensate for this entropy to maintain comfort for the building's occupants, but in the process, energy savings and functionality suffer.
By periodically reviewing your systems operation, and calibrating inputs and outputs, you maintain the high level of system performance and ensure you are always squeezing the most out of your energy dollars. YTI recommends the following preventative maintenance procedures for all systems:
